A bit about the Gobbler
The Gobbler was born in 2012 when Jamie Strang (retired farmer needing a new hobby) decided to turn a few of the paddocks in front of his house into a small golf course. Starting from scratch with a bit of help here and there from the family a golf course emerged from the once boggy paddocks.
Since then there have been greens shifted, new tee sights made, ponds built, bridges assembled / disassembled, trees planted, multiple water schemes set up, structures built, mowers mowing and hell of a lot of weedwacking. Its also been host to a fair amount picnic-ing, golfing, community fundraisers, anzac day get togethers, weddings, parties, stag do's, golf tournaments, choir shows and family time.
The Gobbler gets it's name from a nearby hill that was named Turkey hill long ago. Uncle Jeff quipped in a rather Dad joke manner whilst helping build one of the greens "hey how about it's called the Gobbler as I think people are going to loose a lot of balls here." Uncle Jeff wasn't wrong.
